Things to Do with Children in Wexford

Wexford is not only a haven for beach lovers and history buffs, but it’s also packed with fun-filled

activities for families with children. From interactive farms to thrilling adventure parks, there’s

something for everyone. If you’re planning a family day out, here are some of the best places to

explore with your kids.

1. Blackwater Open Farm

Blackwater Open Farm is a fantastic destination for a fun and educational day out. Located just 15

minutes from Wexford Town, this family-friendly farm offers a range of interactive activities that

allow kids to get hands-on with animals. Your little ones can meet and feed farm animals like goats,

sheep, and pigs, or even hop on a tractor ride.

There’s plenty more to do beyond the farmyard. Kids will love the pedal go-kart track, indoor

bouncy castles, and the playground where they can burn off some energy. If you get hungry, the

farm also has a lovely café with tasty bites, making Blackwater Open Farm a full day of fun and

adventure for the entire family.

2. Kia Ora Mini Farm

Another top spot for a family outing is Kia Ora Mini Farm, located near Gorey. This hands-on

farm is perfect for younger children, as they can not only see a variety of farm animals but also

interact with them. From feeding friendly llamas, alpacas, and Kerry cows, to petting more exotic

creatures like parrots and emu, kids will have an amazing time learning about animals.

In addition to the animals, Kia Ora Mini Farm offers tractor rides, go-karting, and a fire engine ride,

making it a hit with children of all ages. The farm is well-equipped with picnic areas and play

zones, so families can easily spend the entire day enjoying the activities on offer.

3. Irish National Heritage Park

For a mix of history and fun, the Irish National Heritage Park in Ferrycarrig is a must-visit. This

35-acre park offers children a chance to step back in time and explore Ireland’s ancient past in an

engaging and interactive way. Kids can wander through reconstructed settlements, from Stone

Age camps to Viking homesteads, learning about Ireland’s history through hands-on exhibits.

The park also offers archery lessons, and during special events, children can participate in treasure

hunts or guided tours that bring history to life. With trails, nature walks, and a dedicated children's

play area, the Irish National Heritage Park offers the perfect combination of education and outdoor

fun.

4. Pirate’s Cove

For something a bit more adventurous, head to Pirate’s Cove in Courtown. This pirate-themed

adventure park is packed with activities to keep children entertained. The star attraction is the

mini-golf course, an 18-hole adventure through pirate-themed obstacles and scenery. It’s a hit with

both kids and adults alike.

Pirate’s Cove also offers bumper boats, where kids can splash around on the water, and go-

karting, with a small track perfect for younger children. For the more adventurous, there’s the

chance to try the bubble rollers, where kids can walk on water inside giant inflatable balls. In case

of rain, head indoors for bowling or enjoy some of the classic arcade games on offer.

5. Stay Home at Captiva

At Captiva Wexford, there’s a range of activities designed to bring families closer together. From

karaoke nights to a wide selection of family board games, there’s plenty of indoor entertainment

to enjoy. For movie lovers, the cozy home cinema experience, complete with access to Sky

Outdoor fun is just as abundant, with access to a tennis court for friendly family matches and an
